Food Safety
Food Safety
The government released new food nutrition guidance which we as a school must follow. You can find the nutrition guidance for EYFS by clicking the following link: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6839b752210698b3364e86fc/Early_years_foundation_stage_nutrition_guidance.pdf
In order to support us in school, please ensure that packed lunches follow the following guidelines to help prevent the risk of choking:
- cut small round foods (like grapes, strawberries and cherry tomatoes) lengthways and into quarters
- cut sausages into thin strips rather than chunks and remove the skins
- remove bones from meat or fish
- no whole seeds
- cut cheese into strips rather than chunks
- consider wholemeal or toasted bread as white bread can form a doughy ball in the throat
- no popcorn
- no marshmallows or jelly cubes from a packet
- no hard sweets
If any of the above is not followed, children will not be able to eat the items provided.
