Attendance

Celebrating Attendance at Ballifield
As a school, we are committed to promoting and celebrating high levels of attendance, as we know that regular attendance plays an important part in children’s learning, wellbeing and achievement. Our whole-school attendance target is 96%.
We recognise that some absences are unavoidable; however, we greatly appreciate the support of our families in encouraging positive attendance and punctuality wherever possible.
Throughout the year, we celebrate individual attendance by awarding certificates to children who achieve 100% attendance each half-term. We also recognise that attendance success is not only about achieving 100%. Each half-term, pupils can be nominated as an ‘attendance champion’ in recognition of outstanding effort, commitment or significant improvement in their attendance and/or punctuality. This allows us to celebrate children who have worked hard to overcome barriers and make positive progress.
Alongside our individual awards, we have introduced class-opoly, our whole-school attendance reward scheme!
Each Friday during our whole-school achievement assemblies, the top three classes in each Key Stage earn moves around the class-opoly board. As classes make their way around the board, they unlock a variety of rewards, including extra playtime, opportunities to bring toys or games into school, non-uniform days and other special treats.
We also recognise the importance of arriving at school on time by celebrating our most punctual class each week.
Our weekly attendance, punctuality and class-opoly achievements are shared in the school newsletter, so families can follow their class’s progress and celebrate their successes.
Every day counts: be here, be ready, be your best!
