Year 6 Residential – Condover Hall: Day 4 Continues!

A little rain, a lot of mud and plenty more adventure! ️

After being incredibly lucky with the weather all week, the rain finally caught up with us today! Thankfully, there wasn’t too much of it, and it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits!

It’s been another action-packed day, with plenty of laughter, challenges and a little friendly rivalry!

Archery tag made another appearance, and let’s just say a few scores were settled! Grudges were made, alliances formed and some very determined archers took aim at their friends. All in good fun, of course!

Meanwhile, the sensory trail provided another opportunity to get thoroughly wet and muddy, while buggy building put everyone’s teamwork, communication and engineering skills to the test. Some interesting designs emerged, but working together was the real challenge!

There was also plenty more high ropes action, with children racing, climbing and encouraging each other to reach new heights. Jacob’s Ladder proved particularly challenging, requiring teamwork, determination and some rather impressive gymnastic manoeuvres to make it to the top! We’ve certainly discovered a few budding acrobats this week!

It’s been brilliant to see the children continuing to push themselves, support one another and throw themselves into every activity, even as tiredness starts to catch up with us.

We’re now heading off for our final evening activity – the Condover Mini Olympics!

With competitive spirits running high, we’re expecting plenty of excitement, laughter and perhaps a little controversy over the results!

One final evening of fun before we head home tomorrow. What a week it’s been!

Year 6 Residential – Condover Hall: Day 4 Lunchtime! ️

You’ve heard plenty about the wonderful food we’ve been enjoying at Condover Hall over the past few days, so we thought it was time to show you!

From hearty breakfasts to delicious lunches and dinners, the food has certainly been a highlight of our residential – and the children have been making the most of it!

Here are some photos of everyone tucking into their lunches, refuelling and enjoying a well-earned break from all the excitement and adventure.

Happy faces, full plates and plenty of empty ones afterwards!

Year 6 Residential – Condover Hall: Day 3!

Higher, muddier and even more mysterious!

It’s been another fantastic day at Condover Hall, packed with adventure, challenges and plenty of laughter!

Today saw lots of our brave adventurers heading for the heights, tackling the climbing wall and the multi-vines high ropes course. There were some wobbly legs and nervous faces along the way, but plenty of determination as the children pushed themselves to new heights – quite literally!

Meanwhile, other groups were putting their survival skills to the test, learning to light fires using flint and steel and building dens that would hopefully keep them sheltered from the elements!

The sensory trail provided a very different challenge, as the children had to navigate their way around a course while blindfolded. Trust, teamwork and communication were essential, although judging by the number of wet and muddy children who emerged at the end, staying clean was definitely not part of the challenge!

As always, the food has been a highlight! We were treated to mouthwatering roast pork sandwiches and roast chicken at lunchtime, before enjoying a delicious choice of pizza or chicken curry for dinner. All this fresh air and activity certainly builds up an appetite!

This evening, things took a rather mysterious turn as we gathered for a giant game of Cluedo. The unfortunate Billy Banana had been murdered, and it was up to our young detectives to solve the crime! There were some particularly suspicious characters lurking around Condover Hall, including special guest appearances from Mr Parker and Mr Bosworth as Chris Carrot and Max Mustard. Whether their acting skills were convincing or just downright suspicious is still up for debate!

After a day of climbing, scrambling, problem-solving and detective work, we’re now all thoroughly exhausted and more than ready for bed.

The children have continued to show fantastic enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork, and it’s been wonderful to see them embracing every challenge.

Day 3 complete – muddy clothes, tired legs and lots of brilliant memories!

Year 6 Residential – Condover Hall: Day 2!

Another action-packed day at Condover Hall!

What a fantastic day we’ve had! It’s been non-stop fun, adventure and excitement, with the children throwing themselves into another brilliant range of activities.

We’ve been putting our teamwork and communication skills to the test in team-building challenges, dodging arrows in archery tag, showing off our talents in circus skills and, for some of our brave adventurers, conquering their nerves as they tackled abseiling!

Of course, all this activity requires plenty of fuel, and lunch certainly didn’t disappoint! We tucked into a hearty selection of sausage rolls, jacket potatoes and BBQ chicken, with some refreshing melon to finish. Just what we needed to keep us going!

The children have continued to impress us with their enthusiasm, determination and willingness to have a go at new challenges. There have been plenty of smiles, laughter and some very proud faces along the way.

We’re now heading off for another well-earned dinner before rounding off our day with a campfire. Fingers crossed there’ll be marshmallows involved!

After another fun-filled day, we’re hoping all that fresh air and excitement will mean a peaceful night for everyone!

Day 2 is nearly complete – one more adventure-filled day to go!

Good morning from Condover Hall! ☀️

After a mostly good night’s sleep (some better than others!), we emerged from our rooms slightly bleary-eyed but ready for another action-packed day!

First stop was breakfast, and what a feast it was! We tucked into toast, bacon, beans and freshly made pain au chocolat, along with as much cereal and fruit as we could manage. There were certainly no excuses for anyone going hungry!

With full stomachs and energy levels restored, we’re now heading off for another exciting round of activities. Today we’ll be scaling new heights with abseiling, testing our navigation skills in orienteering and sharpening up our aim in archery. Hopefully, we’ll have a few budding Robin Hoods among us by the end of the day!

The excitement is building, the children are raring to go, and we’re looking forward to another fantastic day of adventure.

More updates to follow – wish us luck!

Year 6 Residential – Condover Hall: Day 1!

We’ve arrived, and what a fantastic first day it’s been!

Despite our slightly delayed departure this morning, we made excellent time and arrived at Condover Hall ready for adventure! The coach journey was surprisingly peaceful, with some children chatting excitedly and a few even managing to squeeze in a little snooze along the way!

There was certainly no time to relax once we arrived, as we headed straight into our first activities! Two groups tackled a range of team-building challenges, putting their communication and cooperation skills to the test. Another group tried their hand at circus skills, while our budding survival experts headed outdoors to build dens and learn how to light fires. A brilliant start, with everyone getting stuck in!

After all that excitement, we’d certainly worked up an appetite! Dinner was a delicious choice of peri-peri chicken or lasagne, and it went down a treat. In fact, one particularly impressed pupil declared that the food was worthy of Michelin stars! High praise indeed!

With everyone suitably refuelled, we headed back outside for an evening of wide games. There was plenty of running around, laughter and excitement as the children burned off what seemed like an endless supply of energy!

Now, after a busy first day, we’re all settling down for a well-earned night’s sleep (hopefully!).

The children have made a brilliant start to their residential adventure, and we’re looking forward to everything tomorrow has in store.

Day 1 complete – bring on Day 2!
